Tableau Forensic TD4 Duplicator

Overview

OpenText’s Tableau Forensic TD4 Duplicator is the next generation in cost-effective, reliable standalone forensic imaging of physical media for smaller scale triage, acquisition and media management workloads. The TD4 Duplicator replaces the Tableau TD2u Duplicator.

Primary features:

  • Native source connectors for SATA/SAS, USB-C and PCIe drives. Acquire additional media types such as FireWire (TDA7-9) and IDE (TDA7-5) via Tableau Forensic Adapters.
  • Native destination connectors for SATA (x2), USB-C (x2), and PCIe drives.
  • PCIe hot-swapping (source and destination). Eject and swap PCIe drives without requiring a TD4 system restart to save valuable investigator time.
  • Compact form factor. Portable and sturdy construction for use in the lab or in on-site.
  • Multiple device operation types. Wipe, format and encrypt destination drives. Disk-to-disk (clone) and disk-to-file (image) operations with up to five destinations per job. Perform logical imaging and simultaneous hashing (MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256), verify data integrity, and restore a drive to its pre-imaged state.
  • IT Mode. Allow IT personnel to bypass hashing functions, for example when duplicating drives for new laptops, to speed up imaging processes.
  • Ease of use. Colour touch-screen interface, partition/file system browsing, job status indicator, audible notifications, multiple language support, and saved settings across power cycles.
  • Three-year warranty for parts and workmanship. Two-year extended warranty (total of five years) available for purchase.
  • Free firmware updates.

**Note: PCIe and IDE adapters must be used to connect any PCIe- or IDE-based drives. See section “Extending TD4 Functionality” below for more information.

Extending TD4 Functionality

The TD4 Duplicator has ports available to connect a range of media for imaging. The following additional items can enhance and/or complete the unit’s functionality:

Hard-Shelled Case [008214]
The TD4 comes in a cardboard box. Replacing this cardboard box with a sturdy, hard-shelled carrying case will protect the TD4 during travel and at rest. Custom foam inserts are included inside the carrying case to hold and protect all items.

USB 3.0 A-to-B Cable, 6 ft (Blue) [019914]
The TD4 can write-block and image a USB drive via the USB port on the source side, and can also write images to USB drives when connected to the destination side. However, a USB cable is required to perform either of these actions, and a USB cable is not included in the TD4 kit.

FireWire
FireWire cables/adapters are not included in the TD4 kit. FireWire is becoming more rare, but it is possible that such devices will be encountered. To connect FireWire devices to the TD4, you will need appropriate cables and adapters:

The device adapts from 9-pin FireWire and 6-pin FireWire devices to the Tableau PCIe connector on the TD4.

The kit option of the TDA7-9, called “TKDA7-9”, is also available and contains the following items.

Tableau IDE Adaptor Kit [TKDA7-5]
The TD4 does not have an integrated IDE port. The Tableau IDE Adaptor Kit [TKDA7-5] adapts IDE to PCIe so that IDE drives connect to the TD4’s PCIe ports. This kit (TKDA7-5) contains all required cables to attach IDE hard disks.
The TKDA7-5 kit for TD4 includes:

Tableau PCIe Adapter Kit Bundle [TKDA-PCIE-5PC]
While the TD4 does include a port allowing the imaging of PCIe devices, PCIe devices cannot be connected directly to it. PCIe adapters are required to connect the devices to the TD4 unit, and this bundle includes all Tableau PCIe adapters. (This kit replaces the old TKDA7-3PC-BNDL):
