Overview
In the lab, or in the field, the Tableau Forensic Imager (TX1) acquires more data, faster, from more media types, without ever sacrificing ease-of-use or portability.
Successor to the Tableau TD3 and Tableau TD2u forensic imagers and redesigned from the circuit board up, the TX1 is built on a custom Linux kernel, making it lean and powerful. Every component is hand-selected and tested to guarantee reliability and performance when conducting forensic imaging operations.
- Intuitive touch interface
- Ability to queue jobs
- Processes two forensic jobs at a time
- Can connect multiple sources
- Connect up to five destination drives and multiple network shares
- Whole disk encryption
Extending Functionality
The TX1 has the ports available to connect a range of media for imaging. The following additional items may be required to complete the unit’s functionality:
USB 3.0 A-to-B Cable, 6 ft (Blue) [019914]
The TX1 can write-block and image a USB3 drive via the USB3 port on the source side, and can also write images to a USB3 drive when connected to the destination side. However, a USB 3 cable is required to do either of these actions, and a USB 3 cable is not included in the TX1 kit.
FireWire
FireWire cables/adapters are not included in the TX1 kit. FireWire is becoming rare, but it is possible it will be encountered, hence why Tableau still has the integrated FireWire port. To connect items to the port, you need appropriate cables and adapters:
Tableau FireWire 800 9-pin to 9-pin Cable – 6′ [TC7-9-9]
A Firewire 800 cable.
Tableau FireWire 6-Pin to 9-Pin Cable Adapter [TC7-6-9]
An adapter for Firewire 400 to Firewire 800.
Tableau IDE Adaptor Kit [TKDA7-5]
The TX1 does not have an integrated IDE port. This Tableau IDE Adaptor Kit [TKDA7-5] connects to the PCIe port on the TX1 to allow imaging of IDE based storage. Only the kit version (TKDA7-5) contains all required cables to attach IDE hard disks. The kit version includes the Tableau IDE Cable – 2” [TC6-2] and Tableau Molex to 3M Drive Power Cable – 8″ [TC2-8-R2].
- Adapts IDE to PCIe so that IDE drives connect through the TX1’s PCIe port
- TX1 will recognize drives connected through this adapter as IDE in logs
Tableau PCIe Adapter Kit Bundle [TKDA-PCIE-5PC]
While the TX1 does include a port allowing the imaging of PCIe devices, PCIe devices cannot be connected directly to it. PCIe adapters are required to connect the devices to the TX1 unit, and this bundle includes Tableau’s available PCIe adapters. (This kit replaces the old TKDA7-3PC-BNDL):
- Tableau PCIe Card SSD Adapter [TDA7-1]
- Tableau PCIe M.2 SSD Adapter [TDA7-2]
- Tableau PCIe Adapter for Apple SSD [TDA7-3]
- Tableau PCIe U.2 SSD Adapter Cable [TDA7-4]
- Tableau Apple 2016+ PCIe SSD Adapter [TDA7-7]
- Tableau PCIe Adapter Cable – 4″ [TC-PCIE-4]
- Black TB6 bag that holds the above items [TB6]
Tableau SATA & IDE Adapter Bundle Kit [TKDA-SATA-IDE-7PC]
The Tableau SATA & IDE Adapter Bundle Kit [TKDA-SATA-IDE-7PC] (replacement for the older TDA.MULTIPACK) facilitates imaging storage devices that have connection types that are encountered less frequently and includes the following items:
- Tableau Micro-SATA SSD Drive Adapter [TDA3-1]
- Tableau Apple Blade-Type SSD Drive Adapter [TDA3-2]
- Tableau mSATA / M.2 SATA SSD Adapter [TDA3-3]
- Tableau SATA LIF Drive Adapter [TDA3-LIF]
- Two LIF cables
- Tableau 1.8″ IDE Drive Adapter [TDA5-18]
- Tableau 2.5″ IDE Drive Adapter [TDA5-25]
- Tableau IDE ZIF Drive Adapter [TDA5-ZIF]
- ZIF Cable Bundle [Toshiba-, Hitachi-, and SanDisk-style ZIF hard disk FFC cable (x2 each)]
- Tableau IDE Cable – 2” [TC6-2]
- Zippered Hard-sided Black Nylon Bag [TB4]
Other Recommended Items
- Tableau Micro-SATA SSD Drive Adapter [TDA3-1]
- Tableau Apple Blade-Type SSD Drive Adapter [TDA3-2]
- Tableau mSATA / M.2 SATA SSD Adapter [TDA3-3]
- Tableau 2.5″ IDE Drive Adapter [TDA5-25]
- Tableau IDE Cable – 2″ [TC6-2]
- Hard-shelled Case: The TX1 comes in a cardboard box. Replacing this cardboard box with a sturdy, hard-shelled case will protect the TX1 during travel and at rest.
